Founded in 2010 by Guillaume Maitre and Paulo Pérez Mouriz, Spazio Nuovo is dedicated to the development of contemporary art in Rome with a special focus on photography. Poetical innovation and academic rigour enable the gallery to further its bonds with collectors and institutions, by providing them with the utmost creative insight and expertise with which to build their collections.
Dedicated to exploring new forms of expression and techniques that go far beyond two-dimensional prints, Spazio Nuovo’s unique identity was enhanced by its commitment to consolidate a new group of young collectors, becoming henceforth a reference gallery for photographic research in Southern Italy.
Centrally located near the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, in a neighbourhood of artisans’ ateliers, a special commitment to education underpins Spazio Nuovo’s vibrant programme. Almost every show is accompanied by a series of lectures, conferences, tours for school groups, and special events developed for a range of ages and target audiences. These activities are intended to inspire creativity and foster a passion for photography and contemporary art.
